Music to our Ears

On Monday 20th November, RAF Brize Norton welcomed Air Chief Marshal Sir Richard Knighton as he officially opened the live music club room, which has been renovated to create a space for all station personnel to enjoy.

Led by Sarah Duviau and funded by SSAFA, the renovation began late October with a small group of personnel from across the station joining the renovation giving spectacular end results over a short period of time, showcasing that coming together as a team really does pay dividends.

On Monday 20th November, RAF Brize Norton welcomed Air Chief Marshal Sir Richard Knighton as he officially opened the live music club room, which has been renovated to create a space for all station personnel to enjoy.

As well as being able to enjoy music, those wishing to learn to play an instrument will benefit from the availability of guitars, keyboards and portable drumkits for personnel to loan during sessions, giving the opportunity to practice at their leisure.

In addition to the new revamped music room, January 2024 will see the start of free sessions of music therapy, as well as Sunday jamming sessions and regular open mic nights.

Air Chief Marshal Sir Richard Knighton said:

“It was an absolute pleasure to officially open the music room at RAF Brize Norton. SSAFA and personnel from the station have worked extremely hard to make this a room everyone can enjoy. Whether you play music or just want to listen, this room will certainly give everyone the opportunity to experience some down time in a relaxing and welcoming environment.”
