NEW OFFICER COMMANDING FOR 47 SQUADRON

On Friday 9th August 2019, Wing Commander Andy Johnson officially handed the reins of 47 Squadron, who operate the C-130J Hercules, to Wing Commander Richard Fawkes.

Number 47 Squadron is the only front line C-130J Squadron in the RAF and delivers Tactical and Strategic Air Transport in support of operations and exercises worldwide. With approximately 360 personnel it is the largest flying Squadron at RAF Brize Norton and incorporates Engineers, Aircrew and a full HQ flight with all support functions.
