This month, a team of Engineers from XXIV Squadron volunteered to tidy up one of RAF Brize Norton’s community facilities.

The Millennium Amenities Centre, commonly known as the MAC, was in desperate need of some TLC after being closed for several months due to the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic. So, the team of seven Engineers got stuck in to carry out a full-scale renovation, which included a clean-up of the surrounding area, repairing guttering and a full paint job to a modern shade of grey.

The MAC officially opened in 2000 to celebrate the Millennium, it underwent a substantial refurbishment programme and re-opened in 2012. The facility is used by both the local service and civilian community, with many groups utilising the centre.

Sergeant Rogers, Project Lead said:

“It was a team effort by everyone involved and has made real improvement. It took three days hard work, but morale was high with bacon rolls, pizzas and mince pies consumed throughout, with the staff at the pre-school providing hot drinks.”

Forty bags of rubbish, 32 litres of paint and three days later, the MAC was restored to the fantastic condition it once was, and ready to open its doors to the community again soon.
