RAF Brize Norton Welcomes Guests to the Annual Formal Reception

On 29 June 2022, we were delighted to host the Annual Formal Reception where the Station hosts invited guests from our local Oxfordshire community and wider region.

The guests invited support RAF Brize Norton and our Service community in many ways from very understanding local councillors, dignitaries, teachers, and contractors; their assistance and backing is essential in the smooth operation of the Station.

Guests were treated to a traditional sunset ceremony with music from the RAF Brize Norton Band, RAF Spitfires Choir, and the RAF Salon Orchestra, before the Ensign Lowering ceremony concluded the evening with a flypast from a C-130J Hercules and C-17 Globemaster.

The Mayor of Carterton, Councillor Nick Leverton said:

"I have always considered it a privilege to be invited, in my capacity as Mayor, to the Annual Reception to represent Carterton. The evening is an excellent example of the Station’s commitment to the local parishes and towns that surround the base. As our closest neighbour, I believe both Carterton and the Station benefits greatly from the many opportunities to engage with each other both behind the wire and in the community."
