On Friday 3rd August, in the presence of Air Officer Commanding No. 2 Group, Air-Vice Marshal David Cooper, the Commanding Officer of RAF Brize Norton, Group Captain Tim Jones, handed over the reins to Group Captain Dan James.
To mark the formal handover, personnel from around the Station attended the ceremony, welcoming Group Captain Dan James, as well as saying a fond farewell to Group Captain Tim Jones.
“In my two years as Station Commander, I have been fortunate to get to know the people of RAF Brize Norton through many exciting and challenging times. I think back to Operation RUMAN, last September, and the amazing way in which the Station came together, and it’s that sense of motivation, that came out of a tragic situation, where we really felt we were making a difference to people’s lives. I think that’s what I’ll miss... that sense, in which we come together as a Station and you see the very best in people. It has been a privilege to work with the people of RAF Brize Norton and I wish Group Captain James all the best with the command of this extraordinary Station.”
