Tactical Medical Wing demonstrate life saving capabilities

Royal Air Force Brize Norton based Tactical Medical Wing, have been demonstrating their life saving capabilities to visitors during a series of demonstration days.

The life saving capability displays were designed to showcase TMWs varied and critical skills to key stakeholders, guests, and visitors from the wider defence medical community.

Air Officer Commanding No.2 Group, Air Vice-Marshal Jason Appleton said:

"It's been fantastic to visit Tactical Medical Wing for the Medical Force Capability Demonstration. Myself and colleagues from across defence received a comprehensive insight into the various aspects of the Medical Force and how they support the Operational Patient Care Pathway, whilst learning more about what the RAF Medical Services deliver to the RAF and Defence."

The days saw several stands set up inside the wing’s hangar, exhibiting their full range of medical skills and innovations in training to maintain high readiness. From field hospitals to virtual reality training environments, the event was a huge success.

Wing Commander Adam Smith Officer Commanding Tactical Medical Wing said:

“I have an amazing team here and I’m incredibly proud of what they deliver. Today we’ve showcased the skills we’ve deployed recently on operations around the world and demonstrated that we are ready to go into the next challenge we face wherever or whatever that may be.”

The day was open to a variety of visitors from across the Whole Force including Reservists, Civil Servants and civilian medial professionals who work with TMW regularly. It was also an opportunity for medical teams from our sister services to visit to continually improve interoperability between the British Army and Royal Navy.
