The red-carpet, or in this case, gold-carpet event recognises those whose commitment and devotion make a positive difference to the Station and to the wider community.  The nominees were put forward by their colleagues and all have made an outstanding contribution to RAF Brize Norton.

The awards included the Sporting Achievement Award which this year was won by the Horus 7s Ruby Team. The Horus 7s is a charitable rugby sevens team that encapsulates all that it is to be in the military family; achieving a world record for the longest 7s match in 2017, they recently undertook the longest 10s rugby marathon world record attempt, raising £4.5k for the RAF Benevolent Fund and Scotty’s Little Soldiers. Horus 7s use of sport to boost morale and welfare to personnel within Brize Norton and the local community has been exceptional and impressive in every regard.

The Valiant Volunteer Award was awarded to Senior Aircraftman Rob Thompson who is an inspirational individual, selflessly contributing to the RAF in everything he does. He commits his free time to organising Low Ropes sessions for the Local Cadets and primary schools.  He has delivered team building sessions with both the 2267 Air Trg Corps and the local schools for over 200 children where he continually receives feedback praising him for the positive impact instilled in the groups. Senior Aircraftman Thompson has also raised over £2500 for charity through cycling events and bag packs.

Corporal Court is an inspiration to all.
