Visit of Deputy Chief of the Air Staff to RAF Brize Norton

On 10 July 2025, RAF Brize Norton was honoured to host Air Marshal Paul Lloyd CBE MSc MA MDA BEng CEng FIMechE RAF, Deputy Chief of the Air Staff (DCAS), accompanied by Flight Lieutenant Gilbert, Deputy Personal Staff Officer to DCAS.

The visit commenced with a briefing from the Brize Development Team, Mr Matt Lane provided an insightful update on ongoing works, including the Airfield Operating Surfaces (AOS) project.

The Deputy Chief of the Air Staff then visited Airborne Delivery Wing, where he was particularly engaged with the progress in parachuting capabilities. He took the opportunity to participate in a Virtual Reality Falcons Display, gaining direct insight into their operational skill and agility.

A working lunch followed with members of the Community Support Team and several Station Executives, offering an opportunity to discuss welfare, morale, and ongoing community initiatives. This was followed by a Town Hall session at The Aviators, where DCAS addressed personnel and answered questions, reinforcing his support and priorities.

The day concluded with an Honours and Awards Ceremony, where DCAS personally congratulated service personnel and their families. Recognitions included Operational Service Medals, Long Service and Good Conduct Medals, a DCAS Commendation, and two additional commendations. With the sun shining throughout the day, personnel took pride in donning No.1 SD, a rare treat that was embraced with equal parts enthusiasm and careful navigation of the heat, not dropping squash, and the ever-present fear of sitting creases!

The visit was a great opportunity to engage with Whole Force personnel and it was a real privilege to present Honours and Awards to the highly deserving recipients.”
