Personnel from RAF Brize Norton’s Voyager Force took part in Movember, an annual event involving the growing of moustaches during the month of November to raise awareness of men’s health issues.

The team  of 11 personnel from across AirTanker, 10 and 101 Squadrons did a fantastic job of raising an astonishing £3070, in addition to this each team member ran/walked a set distance during the month of November, despite injuries and worldwide routes getting in the way, the team managed to cover a collective distance of 1311km, smashing their original target of 1010km.

The goal of Movember is to change the face of men’s health, by encouraging men to get involved. Movember aims to increase early cancer detection, diagnosis and effective treatments and ultimately reduce the number of preventable deaths.  Using the moustache as the driving symbol, Movember focusses on the three key areas of prostate cancer, testicular cancer and mental health and suicide prevention.

Warrant Officer Keating, Warrant Officer Voyager Force Support said:

“The month went well, progress was slow at first but as interest grew and support for the cause grew, the team upped their efforts and the distance target of 1010km was beaten with the team amassing a collective 1311km. A successful first year as a Voyager Movember Team with thoughts of how to be bigger and better next Movember, thanks go from the whole team to all who supported us and cheered us on.”
