Chief of the Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal Sir Mike Wigston KCB CBE ADC visited the RAF Officer Training Academy (RAFOTA)

Earlier today, the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal Sir Mike Wigston KCB CBE ADC visited the RAF Officer Training Academy (RAFOTA).   This was an opportunity for the Chief of the Air Staff to view the Phase 1 training output at RAF College Cranwell.

The Chief of the Air Staff was briefed by Commandant RAF College Cranwell on the new Modularised Initial Officer Training Journey alongside practical demonstrations of RAFOTA’s new coaching and mentoring methods.   The visit concluded with the Chief of the Air Staff meeting the Instructors and officer cadets currently undertaking their final Exercise ASTRA Edge.

Exercise ASTRA EDGE is a fully immersive simulation of the modern Air and Space C2 environments, where the cadets work together in small groups to manage a series of critical, complex events that test their Leadership and Command skills.  Fitting with the new philosophy of RAFOTA, the programme engages the minds of the officer cadets, empowers them to be more confident on air and space matters and enriches their skills when faced with the demands of the modern battlespace.
