The Dandelions Day Nursery & Kids Club is in Tattershall. The nursery takes children from six weeks to five years old. The breakfast, after-school and holiday clubs take children up to the age of 13.


If you need help to find a house when you move to the station or if you have any problems with your housing, you can get support from the Service Community Support Officer (SCSO).

Family contact and temporary accommodation

There are two flats and a house RAF personnel can use for:

  • emergency family accommodation
  • visits from children of divorced or separated personnel
  • weekend and school holiday visits from family members like parents or grandparents
  • temporary accommodation when you’re moving into or out of permanent service families accommodation

The two and three bedroom flats are on the station. The three bedroom house is outside the station.

Only RAF personnel can make bookings.

Health and welfare

Medical centre

The medical centre is for RAF personnel only. Dependants of personnel should register with a local GP.

Dental centre

The dental centre is for RAF personnel only.

Soldiers’, Sailors’ and Airmen’s Families Association (SSAFA)

SSAFA Personal Support & Social Work Service RAF (PS&SWS RAF) is contracted by the MOD to provide welfare support to all serving personnel (regular and reserves) and their families. Our team of specialist Personal & Family Support Workers and Social Workers are located on stations in the RAF community throughout the UK.

Our service is confidential and independent from the Chain of Command. It is the aim of our service to support you to enhance personal welfare, maintain family stability and empower you to access the support networks you are entitled to.

Our service can support you with a range of issues including addiction & dependency, child support, financial, housing, mental health, personal support, physical health and relationships.

Anyone can refer themselves to SSAFA. You can contact our service by any of the ways below;

Dependants of RAF personnel can attend services but will need to apply for RAF ID to go to services unaccompanied by RAF personnel.


Station gym

The gym has a fitness suite and classes.

You can join the station gym if you are a dependant of a member of RAF personnel but you'll need to apply for RAF ID if you want to use the gym and sports facilities unaccompanied by RAF personnel.

Golf Club

RAF Coningsby Golf Club  membership is available to service personnel and civilians.






RAF Coningsby Community Centre

The Community Centre has regular activities, including pre-school groups, children’s activities and youth clubs and adult fitness classes.

You can also hire the function room for parties.

Bars and cafés

The bars and cafés on the Station are open to dependants of RAF personnel. You'll need to apply for RAF ID if you want to use them unaccompanied by RAF personnel.

Heroes Bar

Heroes Bar on the Station is open Monday to Friday. It opens at the weekends to show live sport.

The Typhoon Bar is part of Heroes Bar. You can can book it for private functions.

  • Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, 8:30am to 3:30pm and 7pm to 11pm
  • Wednesday, 8:30am to 3:30pm and 4pm to midnight
  • Friday, 8:30am to 3:30pm and 6pm to 10pm
  • Saturday and Sunday, times advertised in the bar

Real Bean Café

The Real Bean Café is inside Heroes Bar.

Opening times: Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 3:30pm.

The Lounge Café Bar

The Lounge Café Bar on the Station is open to families of RAF personnel.

Opening times: Monday to Friday, 11:30am to 1:30pm.

Winky's Bar

Winky's Bar on the Station is only open to the families of RAF personnel for special family functions.

Children and young people

Children and young people’s activities and clubs on the station are run by Airplay.

Other facilities

Thrift Shop

If you are a family member of RAF personnel, you can sell things through the Thrift Shop on the Station.

20% of the sale price goes to charity.

Family member of RAF personnel can volunteer at the shop. You'll need to apply for RAF ID to use the shop unaccompanied by RAF personnel.

Opening times: Tuesday, 9:30am to 1pm and 6pm to 8pm and Thursday, 9:30am to 1pm.
