As an extremely active operational fighter base it’s difficult to ignore RAF Coningsby’s presence in the region. Aircraft activity, the flow of people in and out of the Station, and our interactions in the local community are a constant reminder to all of our neighbours. The busier we are, the more noticeable it is for you, so I would like you to know that we never take your goodwill and patience for granted.
As the Festive Season approaches our routine flying will pause for a short while, with the exception of our 24/7commitment to UK Air Defence. I know my team here at RAF Coningsby is looking forward to a well-earned break after an extremely busy 2024 but of course my thoughts are also with our personnel who will be on duty at home and abroad at Christmas. I extend my best wishes to our neighbours and hope that you will also have some time with your loved ones to relax and recharge.
Quick Reaction Alert is still our primary role here at Coningsby. We have launched aircraft several times this year, and each time gives our country the assurance that they can depend on us; part of that assurance stems from the support we receive from you.
RAF Coningsby’s squadrons have been leading partners in operations and exercises all over the world. And as you read this, RAF Coningsby’s people are supporting operations abroad and here in the UK.
Security in the world is uncertain in recent years, so I have no doubt that we will be at least as busy in 2025. That said, I cannot tell you how important the goodwill and support of the British people is to our uniformed personnel, particularly when they are far away from home. You have given us another year of morale boosting goodwill and patience, for which I offer sincere thanks – not only from me, but from everyone who works at RAF Coningsby.
Wherever you may be in the world, we all wish you a peaceful Christmas, and a Happy New Year. See you in 2025.
