Childcare

The Acorn Childcare Centre is situated on MOD land, but not within the Cosford Military base.

The nursery caters for children between 3 months and 4 years, 11 months.

A Contact House is a property that is available for all Service personnel across the three Services who have a requirement for short term accommodation.

Health and welfare

Medical centre

Dependants who live at Cosford are entitled to use the Station Medical Centre

Soldiers’, Sailors’ and Airmen’s Families Association (SSAFA)

If you are the spouse or partner of RAF personnel, SSAFA volunteers can give you advice and help on things like: bereavement, finances, housing, relationships, and mental health.

SSAFA works with Royal Air Force Community Support.

Chaplains

There is a team of Chaplains available to offer pastoral support and a listening ear to all who live and work at RAF Cosford, as well as arranging baptisms and weddings.

The Chaplains also provide a teaching input to training at Cosford in the form of the Beliefs and Values Programme.

The Chaplaincy Centre is next to the Families Club and the HIVE, and is available to anybody wanting a quiet place to pray, think or simply be.

Sports

Station gym

The RAF School of Physical Training is situated at RAF Cosford with excellent facilities including its own swimming pool.

The gym has an extensive cardio-vascular training facility known as the Arena. The Arena is equiped with running, cycle, rowing machines, free weights and a vast array of other exercise equipment.

Dependents of RAF personnel can join the gym.

Sports pitches and courts

Contact the gym to find out about other sports facilities including, all-weather hockey and football pitches, the indoor swimming pool, tennis courts and two large gymnasia for all indoor activities.

Social

The RAF Cosford Community Centre has regular activities including pre-school activities and youth clubs. You can also hire the function room for parties.

Bars and cafés

There are various bars and cafés on the station open to RAF personnel, dependants, civil servants and contractors. 

Starbuck's (Cosford Community Hub)

A favoured venue for families and the perfect place to meet friends or work colleagues. Plus free Wi-Fi.

Serves breakfast and the Lounge Cafe Bar menu throughout the day, including pub favourites, salads, sandwiches, burgers and pizzas. Children's menu also available.

Fulton Food Court

The Fulton Food Court is only open to RAF Cosford personnel and their visitors.

The Lounge Cafe Bar (Cosford Community Hub)

The all ranks Lounge Café Bar situated in the Cosford Community Hub, is open seven days a week and provides a wide range of services as well as alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. The bar has screens, BT Sports and Sky Sports, a pool table, free Wi-Fi.

A friendly atmosphere for friends and family with entertainment evenings ranging from kids discos, BBQs, quiz nights, live music and many more.

The Lounge bar can be booked for events such as leaving parties, buffets, and meeting.
