Blind Veterans UK Honours Local Volunteers at RAF Cranwell

RAF Cranwell was proud to host Blind Veterans UK last week for a special presentation of their prestigious Founders Awards, recognising the inspiring contributions of volunteers from Lincolnshire, Nottinghamshire, South Yorkshire, and Derbyshire.

The event took place in the Station Community Centre, where guests gathered for an engaging presentation, and a buffet lunch. The highlight of the day was the awards ceremony, by WO Kenworthy, our Service Community Support Officer, who presented certificates and commemorative coins to the volunteers in recognition of their outstanding service to the charity.

The Founders Awards celebrate the legacy of Blind Veterans UK, which was established in 1915 by Sir Arthur Pearson to support war-blinded veterans. Today, the awards honour individuals who embody the same boundless spirit and commitment to service, helping to uphold the charity’s mission of providing life-changing support to blind veterans across the UK.
