On the 6th June 25, 45 Squadron based at RAF Cranwell, welcomed Wg Cdr Savage as its new Officer Commanding.
During the handover Wing Commander Savage said:
I am delighted to assume command of 45 Squadron. I see a Sqn in genuinely great shape, which is down to the tireless drive and determination of our people - led so inspiringly by Wg Cdr Lockyer over the last 2 ½ years. I am truly looking forward to leading this talented and passionate team as we continue to deliver with excellence – Per Ardua Surgo.Wg Cdr D Savage.

Following 2 ½ years in command of 45 Sqn, the departing OC, Wing Commander Lockyer said:
What a fantastic tour this has been. My thanks to everyone for pulling together to get the job done and for making these tour so memorable. Delivering great trainee aircrew to the Multi Engine Front Line is as critical as it has ever been.
I wish Wg Cdr ‘Sav’ Savage and the Flying Camels all the absolute best for the future.
