Another High-Level Visit To RAF Halton

RAF Halton was proud to welcome Lady Hillier, the wife of the Chief of Air Staff, yesterday to gain an understanding of welfare provision and view the welfare and community facilities at RAF Halton.

Lady Hillier began her visit by meeting with the Service Families Accommodation team to discuss housing concerns.  Next stop Lady Hillier visited the Servicemen Awaiting Trade Training (SATT) Welfare Facility, a recently completed welfare project where SATTs can relax and interact with colleagues after a long day.  She followed this with a visit to Recruit Training Squadron to speak to the Welfare and Support Personnel (WASP) team to gain an understanding of welfare provision for Phase 1 Recruits.

Lunch was taken in the Trinity Community Centre which gave Lady Hillier an opportunity to relax over a bite to eat and meet parents in the Soft Play and Air Play park to discuss a wide range of matters from deployment to accommodation and much more.

Lunch was followed by a packed schedule of engagements which included a visit to the Youth Activity Centre, where she was given an outline of the school holiday and youth activity programmes on offer at RAF Halton.  Next stop was a visit to the Chiltern Club where Lady Hillier gained an understanding of the Junior and All Ranks facilities on Unit.  A visit to the Chaplaincy Centre allowed for a welcome cup of tea whilst discussing broader welfare provision across the Unit.  A visit to the Station Youth Club gave Lady Hillier the opportunity to understand the plan to move the Youth Club into a new facility with a larger outdoor area, therefore benefitting the Beavers, Cubs, Brownies and Scouts.  This was followed by a visit to the Spring Nursery where Lady Hillier witnessed first-hand the support that Service Families receive regarding childcare provision.

To mark this special occasion Lady Hillier was invited to sign the Visitor’s Book in Station Headquarters, which concluded an excellent and thoroughly informative visit to RAF Halton.
