Arnold Intake Graduate After Basic Recruit Training

Number 630 Arnold Intake have Graduated from Recruit Training Squadron at RAF Halton after 10 weeks Basic Recruit Training.  Marching on to the Henderson Parade Square behind Flight Commander, Flt Lt Andy Furlong, they numbered 20 females and 66 males with 380 family and friends watching from the stands. The fly past was a Hawk T2 from IV(R) Squadron based at RAF Valley.

Air Vice-Marshal Ian Duguid OBE RAF, who is Air Officer Commanding 11 Group, was the Reviewing Officer, and in his address he congratulated the Intake on their achievements and wished them well in their chosen trades. He was escorted by Cpl Lydia Clarke and presented trophies and awards to:

AC Shilleto – The Rothschild Trophy, awarded to the recruit who excels in Initial Force Protection Training.

AC Bates – The Halton Aircraft Apprentice Shield, awarded to the recruit who has displayed the highest overall standard of effort, determination and achievement in physical education and The Station Commander’s Cup, awarded for the best effort and determination on Number 2 Flight

AC Coates – The Halton Aircraft Apprentice Trophy awarded for the best effort in Drill and Deportment, and The Mayor of Aylesbury Trophy, awarded to the recruit who has been the best overall in General Service Training and Service Knowledge on No. 1 Flight.

AC Young – The Royal Air Force Benevolent Fund Trophy, awarded for displaying the greatest effort and determination on Number 1 Flight.

AC Sayer – The Dusty Miller Memorial Trophy, awarded to the recruit for their willingness to help others as voted for by their fellow Recruits.

AC Cummins – The Lord Lieutenant of Buckinghamshire’s Trophy, awarded for the best overall effort in all aspects of training on Number 2 Flight.

The Lord Trenchard Trophy, awarded to the Flight whose performance in General Service Training and General Service Knowledge,  was awarded to No. 2 Flight and collected on their behalf by AC Shuriah.

The Band Of The RAF Regiment provided musical accompaniment, under the instruction of Flt Lt T Rodda.

The Queen’s Colour was Paraded and borne by Flt Lt Patrick Osborne, with Colour Warrant Officer, Simon Curtiss and Colour Escorts, Sgt Ingham and Sgt Sarah Perkes.
