RAF Halton were awarded £700 to go towards an initiative for Service Children with Special Educational Needs, SEN.  Following the closure of the Childrens’ Centre in Wendover village, the Station launched a new club called ‘The Jigsaw Club’ in April. A SEN based activity club will enable children to improve their fine motor skills, overall motor function, self-control, auditory, visual and tactile skills. Participation in regular activities will also enhance the child’s emotional wellbeing, boost their self-esteem and improve their social skills. In addition, the group is inclusive of families of those SEN children, therefore enabling parents and carers to create a support network amongst each other in addition to accessing existing Station Welfare support.

The generous donation will be used moving forward to continue to build on a successful project ensuring longevity and new opportunities for Service families.
