DOUGLAS INTAKE BRAVE THE AUTUMN CHILL

Douglas Intake, Flights 7 and 8, Graduated from Recruit Training Squadron this week after ten weeks of Basic Recruit Training at RAF Halton. They marched out on to the Henderson Parade Square at led by Flt Lt Matt Barclay, Flight Commander, to musical accompaniment came from The Central Band of the Royal Air Force.

Air Marshal Julian Young, Chief of Materiel (Air), was the Reviewing Officer, who was visiting RAF Halton to attend the Halton Apprentices Annual Remembrance prior to Reviewing the Intake.  In his address he praised the Recruits for their determination and thanked their families for their continued support.

He presented trophies and awards to recipients who were:

AC Rands was awarded The Halton Aircraft Apprentice Shield. Awarded to the recruit who has displayed the highest overall standard of effort, determination and achievement in physical education and The Dusty Miller Memorial Trophy for their willingness to help others as voted for by the Recruits

AC Chambers - Royal Air Force Benevolent Fund Trophy, awarded for displaying the greatest effort and determination on Number 7 Flight and The Halton Apprentices Trophy for the best effort in Drill and Deportment.

AC Sander - The Rothschild Trophy, awarded for displaying the greatest effort and determination in Initial Force Protection Training and The Lord Lieutenant of Bucks Trophy for the best overall effort in all aspects of training on Number 8 Flight.

AC Brown  -  The Station Commander’s Cup for the best effort and determination on Number 8 Flight.                                 

AC Dunford-Jones - The Mayor Of Aylesbury Trophy, awarded for the Flight who has been the best overall in General Service Training  and Service Knowledge on Number 7 Flight.

Finally The Lord Trenchard Trophy awarded to the Flight whose performance has been the best overall in general service training and general service knowledge.  It was awarded to No. 7 Flight and collected on their behalf by AC Pritchard.
