RAF ASSOCIATION GIFT TO RAF HALTON

Annually, the Royal Air Force Association (RAFA) Headquarters requests RAFA Branches to sponsor a Remembrance Cross. This year these crosses  were due to be planted in the Garden of Remembrance at Westminster Abbey by Mr Kevin O'Neill (RAFA Engagement Officer) ably assisted by Mr Derf Mockford, the Aylesbury & Halton RAFA Club Chairman.

However due to the current lockdown restrictions the trip to London and the service in Westminster Abbey was cancelled.  RAF Halton was chosen as a perfect alternative to display the RAFA Remembrance Crosses.

Derf said: “The larger crosses bear the names of the George Cross and Victoria Cross holders that identify the six Recruit Training Squadron Intakes here at RAF Halton whilst the smaller crosses bear the names of some RAFA Aylesbury & Halton Branch members who are sadly no longer with us. Therefore we are really happy that the crosses can be displayed at RAF Halton.”
