Children from Aston Clinton School visited RAF Halton this week to experience a day in the life of a child during World War Two.

On arrival, they were split into six groups and moved between the Trenchard Museum and the James McCudden Flight Heritage Centre. They took part in various historical activities which included: trying on respirators, making a simple bed with sheets and blankets, learning about the sort of food and rations they would have been eating, looking at weapons and trying the flight simulator.

During the day they experienced two ‘air raids’ where they were taken to the shelter by the wardens who talked to them about life during an air raid and introduced some songs and games that they would have played and sang to pass the time. The wardens led discussions on life during an air raid, evacuation and dealing with the aftermath.
