Royal Air Force communications specialists based at RAF Leeming honoured departed colleagues at their annual service of remembrance at the National Memorial Arboretum in Staffordshire.

Personnel from 90 Signals Unit, members of the 90 Signals Unit and Tactical Communications Wing Branch of the Royal Air Forces Association (RAFA), veterans, family and friends honoured the departed within beautiful peaceful surroundings as the names of all personnel listed on the Memorial were read out.

The stone, which is one of more than 400 memorials in the United Kingdom’s year-round centre of remembrance, commemorates and celebrates personnel who died whilst serving or who had previously served on 90 Signals Unit or Tactical Communications Wing.

Group Captain Andy Colley, Commanding Officer 90 Signals Unit, said: “This event is important to us because it really does bring us all together. As a commander you feel an immense sense of responsibility and pride for all the amazing people who serve and have served on the unit.

“90 Signals Unit comprises about one third of the cyberspace profession, so it’s incredibly common for people to come to the Unit, go away for a bit and come back again and again. It acts as a touchstone throughout their careers – and it becomes almost family.”
