Hornets Descend on North Yorkshire for fifth YORKNITE

Hosted at RAF Leeming, Exercise YORKNITE plays a crucial role in the Swiss Air Force training calendar – enabling the country’s F-18 Hornet pilots to achieve up to half of their night-flying currency for the year.

Now in its fifth year at the North Yorkshire base, YORKNITE 2024 encompasses two elements. An initial contingent of 20 aircrew will be using the exercise to hone advanced skills, whilst the second will be conducting night flying training over the sea for the first time.

As well as enabling fast access to training areas over the North Sea, training within the UK allows the Swiss Air Force to access development opportunities alongside their counterparts from the RAF and USAF.
