Charity Walk Ends At RAF Lossiemouth

Emma Knutzen ended her 2000 mile charity walk on Monday 5th November at RAF Lossiemouth.  Emma, who is raising money for the RAF Association, started her amazing challenge at RAF St Mawgan in June this year.  Along the way she has visited every active RAF station.

As Emma walked her final mile to RAF Lossiemuth she was accompanied by members of 51 Squadron RAF Regiment and representatives of the RAF Association.  Emma’s son Senior Aircraftman Jake Knutzen is a member of 51 Squadron and was part of the group – and carried his mum’s rucksack to the gate at RAF Lossiemouth – where Station personnel were waiting to greet her.

Wing Commander Dave Allen, Officer Commanding Lossiemouth Transition Team, met Emma on behalf of the Station Commander.  Emma was then presented with a signed print and other gifts from the RAF Association and the Station.

51 Squadron personnel had one last request for Emma – that she march the final mile to their headquarters on Station.  And Emma was happy to do just that with her son by her side.  Happy, relieved and exhausted Emma said:

“I am so thrilled to have arrived at Lossiemouth at the end of an extraordinary journey.  I have learnt so much about myself as well as the RAF.  As a mum, I feel that it is one of the most wonderful careers a young person could have.  It has been amazing to be here finally and see my son after so many months apart.”

So far Emma has raised just over £3700 for the RAF Association; she can be supported via: https://mydonate.bt.com/fundraisers/walkforwings and is active online at  https://medium.com/@emmamarianne/latest, Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/walkforwings/ and Twitter: @walkforwings
