RAF Lossiemouth has come together to bid farewell to the Station Warrant Officer (SWO) after 38 years of service.
RAF Lossiemouth came together to bid a fond farewell to the Station Warrant Officer, Warrant Officer (WO) Joe Mulholland on 28 January 2026, marking his last day in uniform after a career spanning 38 years.
An RAF Regiment Gunner by profession, WO Mulholland was posted to RAF Lossiemouth in 2014 and has been an integral part of station life over the last 12 years. He was promoted to Warrant Officer on 51 Sqn RAF Regiment in February of 2020 before moving into the role of Station Warrant Officer in 2023.
WO Mulholland has always maintained the highest of personal and professional standards and ensured that all personnel at RAF Lossiemouth were held to the same standard when representing the Station, the Service and the Country.
As a mark of the high regard in which he is held, on his final day in the RAF, people from across the Station lined the pavements to wish him well on his departure.
The Station Commander at RAF Lossiemouth, Group Captain Sarah Brewin said:
“It has been an absolute honour and pleasure to serve alongside WO Mulholland at RAF Lossiemouth. His commitment and dedication know no bounds, and his contribution to all that the Station has achieved is evident for everyone to see.”
Remarking on his career with the RAF Regiment, Number 2 (II) Sqn RAF Regiment said:
“...[he has] been the embodiment of professionalism, courage, and leadership and he has always been a legend of the Corps for as long as [we] can remember.
A true inspirational figure, [his] impact will be felt for generations to come.”
Taking his place as the RAF Lossiemouth SWO is Warrant Officer James Stoddart, a well-respected member of ‘Team Lossie’ who previously served as WO Mulholland’s deputy.
On behalf of all across the RAF, we would like to express our sincere thanks to WO Mulholland for his years of tireless service and wish him the very best for the future.
As WO Mulholland would put it himself: “Rounds Complete!” for one final time.
