Personnel from RAF Lossiemouth have showcased their award-winning culinary talents at the RAF Culinary Skills Competition 2025.
The competition took place earlier this week at Worthy Down Camp, with the Lossiemouth team facing off against catering personnel from across the Royal Air Force. The team took home a range of prizes in a wide array of classes that allowed chefs to showcase their unique skillsets.

The team, made up of Chefs and Air Ground Stewards (AGS), designed their own menus, paying special attention to locally sourced goods from local businesses.
The standout dish of the day was from A/Cpl Korologa who won Gold Best in Class for his Fijian themed menu for the ‘World Food’ class. Using locally sourced lobster from Buckie, the dish was admired by all that attended skills week, with everyone wanting to try it. This was one of A/Cpl Korologa’s first competitions, making this achievement even more impressive.

AS1 Chambers and AS1 Cagi both entered the display class, making novelty cakes. Despite this being their first attempt at baking cakes in a competitive setting, they both received silver medals with AS1 Chambers winning best in class.

AS2 Robertson also competed for the first time in the open omelette class receiving a certificate of merit. He graduated from the Catering Training Wing in December 2024, making this an excellent start to what will be a very successful career within the Catering profession.
AS1 Brown returned to the mixology class for the second year running, upgrading his bronze medal to a silver. This year he competed with a ‘Victory in Europe (VE) Day’ menu consisting of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drink.

The team also took home the prize for “Best Supporting Station” for the 2nd year in a row.
Sgt Cairns, Sgt Byerley, and Cpl Steward were behind the scenes, supporting and mentoring the catering team to ensure they were prepared for the high-intensity environment the competition brings.

It is fair to say Lossiemouth is not short on culinary talent, as earlier this year Catering Flight won “The Team Award” at RAF Lossiemouth’s inaugural station awards ceremony.
The next competition for the team will be in November which is ‘Joint Caterer’ where all 3 services compete against each other. The RAF team will be selected from the top-performers at RAF Skills Week, so we hope our team have done their best to stand out and earn their place within the RAF’s official team.
