RAF Marham's rugby team, the Marham Bulls RFC, has enjoyed a remarkable season, claiming three prestigious trophies and making history in the process.
The team's most significant achievement came with the Marham Bulls RFC victory in the Royal Navy Cup, marking the first time an RAF station has ever had their name engraved on this historic trophy. This groundbreaking win represents not just a triumph for the Marham Bulls RFC, but a milestone moment for inter-service rugby competition.
Adding to their impressive haul, the Marham Bulls also secured the RAF Cup, ending a lengthy drought that stretched back to the 1977/1978 season. This victory will be particularly sweet for the team, as it demonstrates the revival of Marham's rugby prowess after more than four decades.
The team completed their trophy treble by winning the Royal Navy Beach Rugby Trophy, showcasing their versatility across different formats of the game and further cementing their dominance in military rugby circles this season.

The success story extends beyond the Bulls, with RAF Marham also triumphing in the Akrotiri Plate by winning the Aki 10's competition, adding yet another trophy to the station's impressive collection this year.
Meanwhile, the newly formed Lightning Ladies RFC team has made their own piece of history as the first female rugby team to represent RAF Marham. Their establishment marks an important step forward for women's sport at the station and demonstrates the growing inclusivity within military rugby.
To finish off the year’s successes the Marham Bulls and Lightning Ladies Rugby Football Club won the Head RAF Sport Award which was awarded by AOC 22 Gp at the end of October, an incredible achievement by the entire club.
This exceptional year for the Marham Bulls RFC highlights the strength of military sport and the dedication of service personnel from both the Royal Navy and the Royal Air Force who balance their operational duties with sporting excellence. The success across multiple competitions and the historic formation of the Marham Lightning Ladies RFC demonstrates not only rugby skills but also the strong team spirit and commitment that characterises military sport. The historic season will be remembered as a watershed moment for station rugby, proving that with determination and teamwork, even the most established traditions can be challenged and overcome.
The teams came together for a photo opportunity with the trophies as the outgoing president of the club, Group Captain John Butcher handed over the reins to Group Captain Leonie Boyd.
Fg Off Thomas, Officer Commanding the RAF Marham Rugby Club said 'This season has been a defining moment for the Marham Bulls and Lightning Ladies Rugby Football Club. The Bulls’ outstanding success across multiple competitions, alongside the historic formation of the Lightning Ladies, reflects the strength, unity, and ambition within our club.
