Chinook Force Meets Max: The Life Saving Miracle Dog for Charity Fundraiser

The Chinook Force has met ‘Max’ the lifesaving miracle dog on a special occasion to support a charity fundraiser for Scotty’s Little Soldiers which supported over £15,000 in donations in 24 hours.

Max, Paddy and Harry the three Springer Spaniels from the Lake District had their photos taken with a CH-47 Chinook from Royal Air Force Odiham, wearing poppy bandanas to mark this year’s remembrance day.

Recognised worldwide, Max and his owner Mr Kerry Irving from Keswick have attracted a large following on their Facebook Page ‘Max Out in the Lake District’ who tune into their daily walks in the National Park in Cumbria.

A huge Chinook fan, Kerry and the three dogs have a large military following on their Social Media, particularly with those who have served in Iraq and Afghanistan and perhaps turn to their dogs to remind them of home and relax.

Kerry is raising money for a charity called ‘Scotty’s Little Soldiers’ which is a military charity that supports children and young people who have lost a parent who served in the British Armed Forces. Founder, Nikki Scott, set up the charity after her husband, Corporal Lee Scott, was killed in Action in Afghanistan in 2009.

Mr Kerry Irving said: “I’m honoured to have spent time meeting with Chinook Force and to see these incredible machines close up. The dogs really enjoyed meeting the crew and I think it’s fairly clear the crew enjoyed it too!”.

The JustGiving Page was launched on Remembrance Sunday and in just over 24 hours, received over £15,000 in generous donations.
