In a heartwarming display of dedication, legacy and family pride, AS1 Clare Andrews and her daughter AS1 Hannah Vincent, will stand shoulder to shoulder at the Royal Albert Hall on 8 November 2025, participating in the prestigious Festival of Remembrance.
Clare, a Logistics (Supply) Reservist with 505 Squadron RAuxAF at RAF St Mawgan, and Hannah, a People Specialist based at Imjin Barracks near Innsworth in Gloucestershire, will join fellow service personnel in honouring those who have served and sacrificed. Their joint appearance marks a poignant moment, not only for their family but for the wider Armed Forces community.
For Clare, this opportunity is deeply personal.
I’ve watched the Festival of Remembrance every year since I was small, she shares. I remember ‘marching’ across the lounge floor behind my dad. To actually be there with my daughter, bridging the generation gap, will be such an emotional experience.
Hannah, who joined the RAF in 2019, will be leaving the service next year, making this their final chance to parade together. “It’s the culmination of the most exciting Reservist year for me,” Clare adds.
Clare attested just before her 54th birthday, driven by a lifelong desire to serve. I either join up or stop bemoaning the fact I didn’t join 30 years ago, she says. It’s the best decision I’ve ever made.
Clare recently completed her first deployment to the Falkland Islands, fulfilling a dream that began in her teenage years. She hopes to deploy to Cyprus in 2026, continuing her journey as a proud Reservist while balancing civilian life at the University of Plymouth.
Her Squadron Commander, Squadron Leader Chris Menear, 505 Squadron RAuxAF, RAF St Mawgan, couldn’t be prouder:
AS1 Andrews epitomises the professionalism and valuable service a Reservist can give in supporting the Regular Forces. Participating in this prestigious event demonstrates the common bond we all have within the Armed Forces and cements the strong family ties she has with Service.
