RAF St Mawgan Makes a Strong Connection with the Community at the Royal Cornwall Show and wins an award!

Despite a predictably unpredictable weather forecast, personnel from RAF St Mawgan proudly attended the Royal Cornwall Show at the Wadebridge Showground on Thursday 5th, Friday 6th and Saturday 7th June, engaging with thousands of visitors from across the region and won 2nd prize for best non-agricultural trade stand for their efforts!

Wing Commander Helen Simpson, Station Commander at RAF St Mawgan, highlighted the importance of the event, stating:

The Royal Cornwall Show is a fantastic opportunity for personnel from RAF St Mawgan to connect with the local community in which they live and serve —whether that is engaging with school children, veterans, or the general public. It is an opportunity to share what we do, why we do it and why our role for Defence matters.

The RAF St Mawgan tent offered an immersive experience, featuring engineers, medics, survival equipment fitters, personnel from the regiment, reservists, recruiters, cadets and members from the model aircraft club. Visitors were able to gain firsthand insights into the diverse expertise and operations of RAF St Mawgan.

Adding to the excitement, the RAF Falcons, the military’s elite parachute display team, thrilled crowds with a spectacular jump into the Main Ring on Friday as the weather conditions improved, delivering an unforgettable performance.

RAF St Mawgan remains committed to strengthening its relationship with the local community, demonstrating the invaluable contributions its personnel make to national security and aviation excellence.
