Air Infrastructure in partnership with the Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO), has reached a significant point with Contract Awards to Ramboll UK for technical support and to Lagan Aviation and Infrastructure Ltd for the refurbishment of RAF Waddington’s airfield infrastructure.
At the heart of UK Intelligence, Surveillance, Target Acquisition and Reconnaissance (ISTAR), supporting UK and NATO operations, RAF Waddington is also home to the Royal Air Force Aerobatic Team, the Red Arrows. The scale of airfield infrastructure work includes technical governance and oversight, and a phased refurbishment of key taxiways and aircraft dispersals which will continue to underpin the Station’s operational output.
Co-ordination across all stakeholders under the governance of the Senior Responsible Owner, Air Commodore Phil (HQ Air & Space Command, Head Air Infrastructure), has required considerable planning to ensure business-as-usual activities and operational commitments are maintained while this essential work is delivered.
