Success for Astra project at public service awards

An innovative digital platform developed by the RAF Police has been recognised with a prestigious public sector award, beating competition from across government.

Project BLUEPRINT, led by Warrant Officer Ball, won the Digital Innovation as a Service category at the Smarter Working Live Awards. It was the only Defence nomination to be shortlisted among 38 competitors including the NHS, Environment Agency, and local authorities.

The project created a portable digital knowledge platform that puts all essential RAF Police resources in one place. Officers can now access policies, training materials, videos, and key documentation instantly on mobile devices, rather than carrying heavy manuals or searching through multiple systems.

The success of Project BLUEPRINT has sparked investment from the Air Security Force and inspired similar projects across Defence. From RAF Medics to the Defence Serious Crimes Unit and Royal Navy Police, multiple services are now developing their own knowledge platforms based on this model.
