THE UNIT

The Defence Serious Crime Unit (DSCU) was established in December 2022 and incorporates the previous single service Specialist Investigation Branches into a single independent unit.

It delivers a higher-level law enforcement and investigative capability to detect, deter and disrupt criminal threats to all Military personnel, material and information, supporting wider Defence activity.

The RAF Police (RAFP) provide the Air component element to the DSCU ensuring cross pollination of Air minded activity to support Air operations both at home and abroad.

DSCU (North) RAF Section based at RAF Cranwell

DSCU (EAST) RAF Section based at RAF Halton

The Defence Flying Complaints Investigation Team based at RAF Cranwell are an independent body of RAF Police who are tasked to investigate serious aircraft generated complaints, compensation claims, and breaches of flying discipline, on behalf of the Ministry of Defence.

The RAF Police Engagement Team based at RAF Cranwell is made up of suitably qualified and experienced RAF Police Senior Non Commissioned Officers who provide the RAF with specialist higher-level, serious and complex crime training, education and engagement
