RAF STEM Ambassadors visit Pix Brook Academy

On the 24th Mar 2022, four RAF STEM Ambassadors from RAF Northolt visited Pix Brook Academy to deliver a Glider build STEM Day.

The day allowed young people to explore and gain an understanding of what components make up an aircraft, forces that affect flight and how an aerofoil generates lift.  Armed with this new knowledge the students built 3D gliders out of balsa and card before test flying their aircraft.

A total of 150 students from Year 6 took part and had a great day with opportunities to speak to our RAF STEM Ambassadors about what they liked at school and the career paths they took to their current roles.
