Royal Air Force personnel deployed to Romania on Operation BILOXI have welcomed children from local schools to show them their Typhoon aircraft flying from Mihail Kogalniceanu (MK) Airbase.
160 school children from the Constanta area visited the Romanian airbase where four FGR4 Typhoons from RAF Lossiemouth based 2 (AC) Squadron are serving, as part of RAF Leeming based 135 Expeditionary Air Wing (EAW) until September.

The children met the RAF fire section and sat in their truck where they learned how to fight fire. The event also included Romanian and US forces who also delighted the children with their aircraft and equipment.
Senior Aircraftman John Eccles, a Mechanical Engineer for the Typhoon FGR4 volunteered to help in the school visit. He said:
“I wanted the opportunity to meet some of the locals and military personnel at MK… and the aircraft and equipment they have is really impressive.”
The RAF is deployed to Romania as part of the NATO ‘Enhanced Air Policing’ mission, where member states will provide assistance to the Romanian Air Force’s own fleet of fast-jet aircraft. Romania is equipped with MiG -21LanceR and the American built F-16 aircraft.
