Units from across the Station have deployed in support of every current Operation in Defence’s portfolio, and RAF Leeming has become the Station of choice to host the majority of UK-based Air Exercises.

RAF Leeming has led the way through RAF Experimental, providing the perfect environment for innovation, allowing personnel to develop new capabilities using recognised innovation processes, drawn from Silicon Valley and from lessons identified through similar approaches in the USAF. Being risk aware rather than risk averse, and learning from failure, the first steps in driving the cultural change the Service needs for the 2030s and beyond.

The award of the Stainforth Trophy to RAF Leeming reflects the dedication, determination and hard work of the Whole Force based here, spread across the 5 Groups of the RAF, but unified under one vision focused on our people.  It is particularly noteworthy since this is the first time the Station has been awarded it in its 80 year history. The Leeming team continues to demonstrate the power of diversity and challenging boundaries as we continue to unleash, empower and enable our people, allowing them to reach their full potential, and together, catalysing for the Next Generation Air Force.
