Will Whitehorn

Appointed by the Chief of the Air Staff, he serves on the Air Force Board, Air Force Board Executive, the Air Audit Committee, Air Rank Appointments Board and Air Ranks Promotion Board. He provides independent counsel, support and challenge to those boards and to CAS and the senior RAF leadership team.
Will has had a long career in transport and aerospace since University in Aberdeen. He was a helicopter crew and SAR with British Airways Helicopters in the North Sea on Chinooks in the early 1980s. He was a graduate trainee with Thomas Cook and then had a 25 year career with Virgin Group in their air, rail and other businesses and was ultimately special advisor to Sir Richard Branson and President of Virgin Galactic which he led until 2010.

Since 2010, Will has fulfilled a variety of non exec and Chairman roles and been involved in advising start up companies. Current relevant roles include being a shareholder and director of AAC Clyde Space,the Cube Satellite manufacturer. He is also Deputy Chair of Stagecoach Group PLC, Good Energy PLC and Vice President of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport. He is  a Fellow of the Royal Aeronautical Society and holder of their prestigious Geoffrey Pardoe Space Award for services to the industry.

Sally Boyle

As a Non-Executive Director of the RAF, Sally Boyle attends the Air Force Board Executive meetings at which the strategy and the operational effectiveness of the RAF is reviewed.  She also sits on the People Committee, chaired by Chief of the Air Staff, which considers and discusses the people plan for the RAF.

Sally is a partner at Goldman Sachs and is the International Head of the Human Capital Management (HCM) Division, overseeing the HCM businesses in Europe, the Middle East and Africa, Bengaluru and Asia Pacific. She is also responsible for Employee Relations globally.

Simon Collins

Simon is the co-founder of Gold Collins, a crisis advisory business, and has a variety of board and advisory roles with UK and international organisations.

He was Chairman and Senior Partner of KPMG LLP until 2017, following roles leading the Transactions and Corporate Finance businesses. Prior to that he was an investment banker with SG Warburg and NatWest Markets.

He qualified as a Chartered Accountant with Price Waterhouse in 1986. Simon is a member of the University of Manchester’s Global Leadership Board, chairs the Catalyst Board for Cancer Research UK and is a member of the Hampton-Alexander steering committee.

Jayne MacLennan

Jayne's particular expertise is in property infrastructure and related safety issues where she is able to offer advice and support to the RAF on the management of and investment in its property estate. She has also been asked to join the Total Safety Committee as the independent member. Jayne brings to that area her experience of functional safety working within industry. 

Jayne is a Chartered Surveyor and was formerly Group Director of Property at FirstGroup, a FTSE 300 Company, where she was responsible for the Groups International and UK Property assets.  She is now a non-executive at a number of companies, including Glasgow Prestwick Airport, Aberdeen Harbour Board and LocatED. Jayne is Chair of LionHeart Benevolent Organisation and Trustee of SAMH (Scottish Association of Mental Health). She is also Joint Managing Director of a business consultancy and Managing Director of MacLennan Norman Property Consultants.
