Non-executive Directors

Peter Hill CBE

Appointed by the Chief of the Air Staff, he serves on the Air Force Board, Air Force Board Executive, Air Audit Committee and the Air Force Command Group, and is the Independent Member on the Air Rank Promotion and Appointment Boards. He provides counsel, challenge and support to CAS and members of the RAF's senior leadership team.

Peter is currently Non-executive Chairman of the world-leading geotechnical engineer Keller Group plc, and also of the specialty building products company Volution Group plc. He has held senior positions in a number of global industrial and natural resources companies, with responsibilities for general management, strategic planning, sales and marketing, project management, corporate finance, and human resources.

Sally Boyle

As a Non-Executive Director of the RAF, Sally Boyle attends the Air Force Board Executive meetings at which the strategy and the operational effectiveness of the RAF is reviewed.  She also sits on the People Committee, chaired by Chief of the Air Staff, which considers and discusses the people plan for the RAF.

Sally is a partner at Goldman Sachs and is the International Head of the Human Capital Management (HCM) Division, overseeing the HCM businesses in Europe, the Middle East and Africa, Bengaluru and Asia Pacific. She is also responsible for Employee Relations globally.

Stephen Barrett

Appointed by the Chief of the Air Staff, he serves on the Air Force Board, Air Force Board Executive and Air Force Command Group – providing counsel, challenge and support to CAS and members of the RAF’s senior leadership team. He also chairs the Air Audit Committee, which scrutinises Air Command’s control framework and assurances, and is a member of the RAF100 Executive Committee, which manages the RAF’s 2018 centenary programme.

Stephen is an independent advisor, and holds a number of public sector appointments. He was previously a corporate lawyer in private practice, an investment banker specialising in capital markets transactions and a senior partner in a global consulting firm.

Jayne MacLennan

Jayne's particular expertise is in property infrastructure and related safety issues where she is able to offer advice and support to the RAF on the management of and investment in its property estate. She has also been asked to join the Total Safety Committee as the independent member. Jayne brings to that area her experience of functional safety working within industry. 

Jayne is a Chartered Surveyor and was formerly Group Director of Property at FirstGroup, a FTSE 300 Company, where she was responsible for the Groups International and UK Property assets.  She is now a non-executive at a number of companies, including Glasgow Prestwick Airport, Aberdeen Harbour Board and LocatED. Jayne is Chair of LionHeart Benevolent Organisation and Trustee of SAMH (Scottish Association of Mental Health). She is also Joint Managing Director of a business consultancy and Managing Director of MacLennan Norman Property Consultants.
