About

4626 Squadron is based at RAF Brize Norton in Oxfordshire. Personnel provide personnel to the RAF Medical Services operational medical capabilities, including aeromedical evacuation and pre-hospital and primary healthcare. Personnel are recruited from the NHS and private healthcare sector and from across England and Wales. The Squadron has deployed personnel to all major operations since its formation and also humanitarian ops such as assisting in the treatment of Ebola victims in Sierra Leone.

History

1983   Formed at RAF Wroughton.

1991   Sqn deployed to the Gulf for Op GRANBY.

2003   Sqn deployed to Cyprus in support of Op TELIC.

2006   Provided 5 personnel on permanent rotation to Op HERRICK until 2014.

2015   Provided personnel to Op GRITROCK in Sierra Leone.
