The Pengelly Trophy is the annual 6-a-side football competition held at Brize Norton for Movements Professionals.
The competition is open to all movements organisations, UK and overseas and includes joint organisations with RAF Movers on their strength.
First held in 1994, with gap years (2017-OP RUMAN and 2020 COVID), this year’s competition marked it’s 30th Anniversary and saw 10 teams, including teams from Akrotiri, South Cerney and Benson joining those Brize based teams to battle for the trophy.
Following a hotly contested league format, the teams that would compete for the knock-out phases of the cup and the plate were decided, together with the ‘wooden spoon’ play-off.
After a total of 53 well contested matches, the cup final saw the Movements Conversion Unit beat the Joint Helicopter Support Squadron (Benson) to lift the Pengelly Cup for the first time, whilst RAF Akrotiri movers beat the Joint Air Mounting Centre team to win the Plate.
