Today on the 11th hour on this, the 106th anniversary of the Armistice when the guns fell silent on the Western front, RAF Brize Norton fell silent to remember and honour all those who lost their lives.
Personnel, civil servants and contractors from across the whole force were joined by veterans and children from local schools as we took a moment to pause and remember the sacrifices made by so many. As the station fell silent together, we reaffirmed our gratitude and respect for all those we honour on this day.
Group Captain Henton, Station Commander said:
“Armistice Day provides the opportunity to pause to remember all those who gave their lives in pursuit of peace and freedom. I will be remembering and reflecting on the ultimate sacrifice made by so many that has given us the freedoms we often take for granted today.”

Personnel from RAF Brize Norton also joined communities across Oxfordshire over the weekend to participate in remembrance parades, standing shoulder to shoulder with local residents to honour the fallen. Representing RAF Brize Norton, these individuals reflected the Station's deep commitment to remembering and respecting all those who made the ultimate sacrifice.
It is an honour for personnel to participate alongside communities they serve, reflecting on the courage and dedication of all those we remember.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them
