The passing of Squadron Leader Gordon Parry

It is with deep regret that we announce the death of Squadron Leader Gordon Parry who sadly passed away on Saturday 22nd March.

Image of Squadron Leader Gordon ParryGordon was commissioned into the Royal Air Force as a pilot in 1980. He attended Leeds University before completing flying training at RAF College Cranwell and RAF Finningley.

Gordon was appointed to the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire as a Member in the 2010 New Year Honours List for his work in the Future Strategic Tanker Aircraft Integrated Project Team and as a Trustee for Cherished Memories, a charity that provided opportunities for over 300 families with terminally ill and severely disabled children to attend major National events.

Married to Jenny for over 39 years, with their 2 dogs Blayze and Half Penny, when not in their home “Jendon” in Carterton, they would be found on their small holding in Lincolnshire.

The other passion in his life was cycling, he completed multiple charity bike rides over several distances and was always keen on getting fellow Service Personnel out on their bikes over lunch or to a spinning session.

Gordon will be sorely missed by the whole force at RAF Brize Norton. Our thoughts are with Gordon’s wife Jenny and his family at this sad time.
