50 Years of Service at RAF Cranwell

After an incredible 50 years of service as a civilian at RAF Cranwell, we bid a fond farewell to Mr Lord as he embarks on a well-deserved retirement.

Mr Lord receiving the Station Cdrs Coin

Mr Lord first arrived at RAF Cranwell in March 1976 as a young man on a temporary basis, supporting the Station Labour Force. His early duties included maintaining and upkeeping the camp, assisting with red carpet events such as Royal visits, and setting up marquees for the renowned Lord Taverners events.  In the early 1990s, Mr Lord took on the role of heading up Field Clothing in the old supply building. By 2001, he became the team leader of the newly established Field Equipment Group, where he completed his career.

Mr Lord’s commitment and contributions to the success of RAF Cranwell earned him the honour of receiving the Station Coin, presented by the Station Commander, Wing Commander Thornton.
