The Tedder Academy of Leadership (TAL) based at the Royal Air Force Cranwell, has been formally presented with its Royal Air Force Heraldic Badge by Air Officer Commanding No. 22 Group, Air Vice-Marshal Sharrocks CBE MA RAF, during a ceremony held at the RAF College.
The newly awarded heraldic badge represents a significant milestone for the Academy and reflects its growing role in the development of leadership excellence across the Royal Air Force. The badge incorporates the lion sejant and flaming sword, elements taken from the Coat of Arms of Lord Tedder.

In alignment with its mission, the Academy has adopted the motto“Through Leadership Development, Excellence.”
This reflects TAL’s enduring commitment to improve the RAF’s leadership think, training, and education based on a paper written by Air Member for Personnel entitled , “Developing Excellence in Leadership,”
Royal Air Force Heraldic Badges also known as crests are awarded to commands, squadrons, units, and stations following a rigorous application process. Each badge must meet strict criteria to be considered and is formally approved by the Chief of the Air Staff and The Monarch.
