MILITARY and CIVIL AIR SAFETY DAY at RAF HALTON

Last week, RAF Halton hosted a Military/Civil Air Safety Day at the airfield.

The event aimed to improve awareness of the RAF Halton Airfield amongst General Aviation pilots, particularly the days and hours of opening and the type of operations with a view to reducing the number of Airspace Infringements in the Halton Air Traffic Zone.

The fully booked event had people arriving by car and by air with 22 light aircraft having travelled from as far as Yorkshire and the Isle of Wight and everywhere in between!

With talks from external speakers, including the General Aviation Safety Council (GASCO), there were also interesting stands provided by the Chiltern Gliding Club, Halton Aero Club and the Halton Microlight Club.

Amongst those who addressed the attendees, was the Station Commander Group Captain Startup who said: “RAF Halton has hosted the first military civil air day for many years. It has been incredibly interesting and hopefully highlighted and promoted safety across the aviation community. My thanks go to all the speakers, stands and especially to Flight Lieutenant Hindley who brought the whole day together.”
