The RAF Police are delighted to announce that Warrant Officer Alex Tatham has been appointed as the next Provost Marshal Warrant Officer (PMWO) & WO Air Security Force (WOASF) with effect from the 28 July 2025.

I am deeply honoured to serve in this capacity and to help deliver the intent of the Provost Marshal (RAF) and the ASF Commander during what I believe is a pivotal and exciting time for our Force. Warrant Officer Tatham
Born in Chesterfield, Derbyshire and raised in Harrogate, North Yorkshire, Warrant Officer Alex Tatham joined the RAF on 27 November 2002. After completing initial training, he was employed on RAF Police Law Enforcement duties at RAF Boulmer, Waddington and Leeming.
Following his passion for investigations Alex successfully sought employment within the Serious and Complex Crime arena as an Investigator on RAF Special Investigation Branch (SIB), Northern Region where he served for eleven years. During that time, he successfully completed the Tier 2 Investigative Interview Course and National Drugs Officer Course with West Yorkshire Police, the Family Liaison Officer course at the Metropolitan Police Crime Academy and the Management of Serious Crime Investigations Course with South Wales Police.
Throughout his investigative career he has led a host of serious and complex Crime investigations and Operations, both as an investigator and a Team leader. He also completed numerous Home Office Police Force (HOPF) secondments to specialist policing teams including Lincolnshire Police Emerald Team, Leicestershire Police Serious Crime Team.
As his career progressed Alex completed both the RAFP Counter Intelligence Field Team (CIFT) Course and the HOPF Behaviour Detection Officer Course which saw him deploy as a CIFT Leader, operating from Abu Dhabi in support of the Air Tactical Leadership Course with the UAE Air Force.
Alex has completed a myriad of Operational deployments across the UK and oversees including Iraq, Afghanistan, the USA, the United Arab Emirates, the Falkland Islands and Europe.
As the PMWO & WO ASF, WO Tatham will be involved in all areas of RAF Police business as well as mentoring RAF Police personnel, ensuring the welfare of our people and maintaining high professional and personal standards. Alex will also deliver the intent of the PM(RAF) to all RAF Police and ASF elements.
