A change of command has taken place at RAF Lossiemouth with the arrival of a new Station Commander.
Group Captain (Gp Capt) Rob Croft took over command of RAF Lossiemouth from Gp Capt Sarah Brewin on the 6th of August 2026 in a formal handover ceremony.
Keeping tradition alive, personnel gathered on Thursday to applaud the outgoing Station Commander as she left RAF Lossiemouth for the last time as Head of Establishment. Her vehicle of choice to exit the station was one of Lossiemouth's Mountain Rescue vehicles, a fitting tribute as she is a member of, and advocate for, the RAF Mountain Rescue Service.
This exit marked the end of a tour which saw her lead ‘Team Lossie’ through an intense period of operational activity, with many personnel deployed on operations worldwide. During her 2-year tour she welcomed many VIP visitors to the Station, including His Majesty the King, the Prime Minister, and the President of the USA.
Asked about his new position, Gp Capt Rob Croft said:
…It is a real privilege to take up the appointment...I would like to thank the outgoing Station Commander Group Captain Brewin for her outstanding leadership and everything she has accomplished during her time here. Her dedication, professionalism, and commitment have left RAF Lossiemouth in a strong position, and I am grateful for the firm foundations she has built.
As I take on this role, I am very much looking forward to working alongside everyone across the Station, as well as the wider community whose support is so important to RAF Lossiemouth’s success. The strength of this Station lies in its people, and I am excited to join such a talented and committed team.
There is important work ahead. Together, we will ensure RAF Lossiemouth continues to fully deliver its mission, enabling air power projection from this key airbase. I am confident that, through our shared professionalism, teamwork, and determination, we will continue to meet every challenge and seize every opportunity.
Gp Capt Croft arrives in Scotland from Episkopi in Cyprus where he was the Assistant Chief of Staff (Support) at the Headquarters British Forces Cyprus. Since commissioning in 2002, he has served in a range of operational, command and staff appointments in the UK and overseas, including deployments to Iraq, Afghanistan and the Middle East.
He has commanded RAF Movements Unit Canada, Air Movements Squadron at RAF Brize Norton, and the Logistics Wing at RAF Akrotiri.
