RAFAKidz Valley is located in the community area, outside the wire, next to the Costcutter shop. RAFAKidz Valley offers childcare for children aged 3 months – 5 years and accepts funding from The Childcare Offer for Wales.

Housing

Service Families Accommodation (SFA) is located at both RAF Valley, and Rhosneigr. Pinnacle Service families manages the SFA on behalf of the Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO). Contact the Service Community Support Officer (SCSO) for more information:

Family Contact and Temporary Accommodation

RAF Valley has two, three-bedroom houses to serve as welfare houses and which can be made available for rent to RAF personnel.  These are located on Penrhyn Close.

Medical centre

Medical care for Serving Personnel and family members is provided by the The Rimon Than Medical Centre.

Dental centre

Dental care for Serving Personnel is provided by the Station Dental Centre.

Family members cannot access this service and must find dental care in the local area.

SSAFA

SSAFA provides lifelong support to anyone who is currently serving, or who has ever served in the Royal Navy, British Army and Royal Air Force and their dependants.  

SSAFA volunteers deal with a broad range of social issues including bereavement, finance, housing, relationships and mental health.

There is no SSAFA worker at RAF Valley however, face to face appointments can be arranged when requested.

Chaplains

The RAF Valley Padre is based in the Community Hub, and also at St Mihangel's, the RAF Valley Station Church.    

Church services are held on Sunday at 10am.  A Sunday school is held for children of all ages.

Sports

Station gym

The RAF Valley Gymnasium is a 24-hour facility, accessed by key fob system. Membership should be paid in cash at the RAF Valley Gymnasium reception and prices vary for Service Personnel, Family Members, and Contractors. Facilities within the gym include a spin studio, free weights area, multistorey gym space, and both indoor and outdoor sports pitches and courts.

Members of RAF Valley gym are entitled to use Rhosneigr Golf Club for a reduced fee. Gym members can also access the swimming pool at Holyhead Leisure centre. For more information about these services, contact the reception.

Bars and cafés

Trewan Café & Bistro

Trewan Café & Bistro is the RAF Valley all ranks facility that can be accessed by the Whole Force Community. The Station bowling alley, DragonBowl, is located within the Trewan Café & Bistro.

The History Room Cafe (Starbucks)

Starbucks is located on Station in the History Room Café. This can be accessed by all pass holders including family members.

Children and young people

Airplay

Children’s and young people’s activities and clubs on the station are run by Airplay.

There are various sessions during the week for children and young people.  

·       Ben Club: 5 – 7 years on Thu, 1600 – 1730 

·       Juniors: 8 – 11 years on Tue, 1600 – 1800  

·       Inters: 11+ years on Thu, 1800 – 2000.  

Families should register on Airplay Connect prior to attending these sessions.

Parent and Tots Group 

The RAF Valley Parent and Tots Group is a volunteer run facility for children aged 5 years and below, with soft play, small world play, arts and crafts, and designated baby area. There is a small fee for each use per child.  

Other facilities

Thrift Shop

The Thrift Shop at RAF Valley is a Whole Force community facility in which people can buy and sell second hand goods. It is located in the community area, outside of the wire and is open to the public also.  

Opening Hours: Tue & Thu, 0900 – 1330 and the first Wed of the month, 1830 – 2000 (Term time only).  

Costcutter

The Costcutter is the Station shop and is located on the community area, outside of the wire, next to RAFAKidz Valley.  

Opening Hours: Mon – Fri, 0700 – 1900 & Sat, 1000 – 1900.  

Jetflix Cinema

The RAF Valley Station cinema, Jetflix, has various showings each week of the most recent releases as well as movie classics. Booking is required.  

Opening Hours: Mon & Thu, 1900 and Sun, 1400.  

RAF Valley Military Veterans’ Hub 

The RAF Valley Military Veterans’ Hub is located within the Jetflix building and is used for monthly Veterans’ social gatherings, as well as regular craft and music sessions. The facility is open to Tri-Service Military Veterans across North Wales.
