Children’s Links took over the contract for the nursery in April 2024, they offer a range of facilities that cater for children from three months to six years.

RAF Waddington OOSC Club is a breakfast and after school club which serves Waddington All-Saints Academy with wraparound care at The Pip Beck Centre on RAF Waddington. We are open during term time 0730 – 0900 and 1520 – 1800 and Holiday Club 7.30-5.30. All children are welcome.

Housing

The RAF Waddington Contact Houses are a facility of the Station Community Welfare Support System.

The houses are intended to provide temporary accommodation for a wide variety of purposes such as compassionate cases, child custody visits, emergency re-housing due to fire, flood or simply to accommodate visiting family and friends.  

There are three properties available at RAF Waddington: 

  • The four-bedroom Waddington Manor, on Slessor Street 
  • The four-bedroom Waddington Lodge, on High Dike Road 
  • The two-bedroom Bungalow, in Pottergate Close, Waddington village

There are two further properties located at RAF Scampton managed by the Waddington Committee: 

The Scampton Chalet and Scampton Lodge on Wellington Street, both having 3 bedrooms. 

All properties are fully furnished including white goods, TV, bedding and toys for the children.

Health and welfare

The Pip Beck Centre

The Pip Beck Centre is home to a range of Community & Welfare Support personnel including the HIVE, SSAFA, personal support and the Chaplaincy Team.  As the Station community centre, various community groups operate each week from within the building across both daytime and evening sessions.

The Pip Beck Centre was opened in September 2021 and has its own Costa coffee Shop, Soft Play and large hall area to accommodate events and activities.

The rooms are available to hire out as either as one-off request or for regular sessions. Hire of the Soft play for private events is also possible, subject to availability.

Regular groups that reside in the Pip Beck Centre include:

  • Before & After School Club (OOSC)
  • Holiday Club
  • Airplay Youth Club
  • The RAF Waddington Under 5's Group
  • RAF Benevolent Fund Stay and Play, Community Yoga
  • Girl Guides
  • The Tang So Doo Martial Arts Club

Medical and Dental Centre

On station Medical and Dental Centre for all RAF Waddington personnel.  Dependants of personnel should register with a local dental and medical practice. 

SSAFA, the Armed Forces Charity

SSAFA Personal Support & Social Work Service RAF provide welfare support to all serving personnel (regular and reserves) and their families. 

Our team of specialist Personal & Family Support Workers and Social Workers are located on stations in the RAF community throughout the UK.  Our service can support you with a range of issues including addiction & dependency, child support, financial, housing, mental health, personal support, physical health and relationships.

Visit us: Your local office is in The Pip Beck Centre – Chaplaincy and Community Support Services.

The team are contactable Monday - Friday between 8am to 5pm in the office.

Chaplains

The Chaplains at RAF Waddington are here to support the whole community including serving RAF personnel, dependants, civilians and contractors.

Chaplains provide a confidential listening ear for those facing ethical difficulties, problems at work or difficulties at home.

With a wealth of experience of service life and deployments, the chaplains can offer advice and support and can engage with other areas of the Station and welfare providers on and off the Station in order to resolve issues.

Sports

Station Gym

The Station has a fully equipped gym which offers an annual gym membership.

Serving RAF personnel, dependant of a serving RAF personnel, a civilian personnel or contractor. 

A gymnasium induction is to be attended to familiarise themselves with the facilities and Health and Safety orders.

Sports pitches and courts

Outside facilities include tennis courts, football and rugby pitch, all weather pitch, and squash courts.

There is also a resistance training area, a multi-purpose indoor sports hall, an astroturf area and climbing wall.

Serving beverages, sandwiches, cakes and hot food.

Cost Cutter

The supermarket on station offers a variety of food, beverages and household products.

Other facilities

The Heritage Centre

The Centre is open to all civilians and RAF personnel on an appointment basis.  It is free, although a small donation to enable the upkeep is appreciated.

Black Buck Narrow Boat

Black Buck is a purpose built, 8 berth narrow boat, owned and operated by RAF Waddington. Facilities include two toilets, a shower and a light airy saloon with kitchen diner. Black Buck is moored at JD Boat Services in Gailey, Staffordshire, allowing access to the heart of the English canal system.

Black Buck is available for charter by any serving or retired member of HM Forces (including reserves), MOD civilians and civilians working for the MOD (in whatever capacity). Available for hire throughout the season of 01 March to 31 October each year, bookings are taken on a first come, first served basis.

We offer a 25% discount on published prices for Junior Ranks (applicable on all bookings, but not to be used in conjunction with the repeat booking discount), and a 15% discount on any repeat/second bookings made in the same season.

We also offer an ‘Early Bird’ booking rate. If you make a booking for the following season (only) before the end of the current season year, we will honour the current season prices thus you will avoid the new season price increase!
