New equipment will enhance Royal Air Force search and rescue capabilities

A RAF Poseidon MRA1 maritime patrol aircraft has successfully deployed Search and Rescue equipment capable of sustaining up to 100 persons in distress at sea for up to three days.

1 Tactical Police Squadron

1 Tactical Police Squadron (22 Group Security Squadron) falls under the Air Security Force and is headquartered at RAF Cranwell. 

The Squadron was established in 2021 when the RAF Police introduced their new operating model ensuring it can adapt rapidly to new threats and continue to remain in the best possible position to protect, secure and enable the Next Generation Air Force. 

1 Squadron RAF Regiment

1 Squadron RAF Regiment falls under 7 Force Protection Wing.  They aim to provide a highly-trained Active Defence Squadron that is employable across a wide spectrum of threat environments in order to enable UK Air and Space Power.

The Squadron comprises of nearly 170 personnel including RAF Police, Mechanics, Chefs, Clerks and Paramedics, with regular training exercises across the UK and overseas in support of RAF Operations.

No 1 Radio School
Number 1 Radio School (No 1 RS) is part of the Defence School of Communication and Information Systems. Located at RAF Cosford, its mission is to train Engineering (Communications-Electronics) Officers and Trade Group 4 (TG4) personnel to agreed output standards in order to enable cyberspace capabilities for the RAF and Defence.

The Atlas is a transport aircraft providing tactical airlift with strategic oversize lift capabilities.
1 Engineering Support Squadron

1 Engineering Support Squadron falls under Tactical Communications Wing of the Support Force.  They deliver Communications Information Systems Installation and UK Regional Main Operating Base support.  It also provides engineering for communications and networking equipment.

Their work requires specialists to climb at height capabilities.
