The first flight over Mount Everest was undertaken by David McIntyre and Sir Douglas Douglas-Hamilton (who later became the Duke of Hamilton).  Both Officers served on 602 (City of Glasgow) Squadron and their flight was financed by Lucy, Lady Houston.
